flower + skull diy with a cricut giveaway

I have been admiring head vases for some time (I know that sounds funny, but they can be cool!). So, I thought what better time to DIY one than for Halloween! When I first started this project I had intended to use it for real flowers, but you know that I love to use my Cricut Explore and one thing I hadn't tried to make with it yet was flowers!

Read on to learn how you can make your own.

Supplies: Styrofoam skull, knife, wall spackle, pearl paper sampler, floral wire, hot glue, and the Cricut Explore.

Process: Using a knife, cut a large hole in the top of the skull. If using real flowers, this is where you would hide a mason jar with water for the flowers. Next, use wall spackle to coat the skull and let dry. You could skip this step, but I think a coat of spackle makes it look like a ceramic skull instead of cheap styrofoam.

Using your Cricut Explore, pick out a few flowers in the Design Space (search 3D flowers). I chose 4 simple shapes, duplicated each one about 10 times while changing the size and alternating the colors. Once everything was cut, I used a hot glue gun to round and attach the flowers. Lastly, I used floral wire and hot glue to make the long yellow flowers, as well as create the bouquet by securing the flower to the wire.

Time: This project took 2 hours to complete. My advice is to cut out the flower peddles before you try and design the bouquet. You can always cut more, but for me it was much easier once I got started piecing them together.

Best of all you can enter in a giveaway to win a huge box of Cricut supplies (details below the pictures)! This post was made in partnership with Cricut.
