learning from elders

We went out to the country to visit Tyler's grandparents. The first thing we did when we got there was pull potatoes out the garden for supper. Matilda was amazed when grandma popped one right out of the dirt. She put her hands over her mouth and oohed with joy.

Isn't that how we should all be? Shouldn't we all be amazed that food just pops right out of the ground? That with a little bit of work and attention we can create things that sustain us.

We sat, we cooked, we ate, we napped, and we said our goodbyes. It was nice and a window into simpler times. Oh those elders, they know some stuff.
