As the youngest of five, I had the biggest stocking, and I loved it. I loved getting them out, I loved hanging them smallest to biggest, I loved the excitement on Christmas morning when the goodies were placed inside. So this year, I made it my goal to make a faux fireplace.
Here is how you can make one too.
Supplies:
large chalk board or dark butcher paper
chalk
water
paint brush
painter's tape
sponge
scissors
Step one: put chalk in a blender or food processor until all large chunks have turned to dust.
Step two: add water, a little at a time, until you get a watery paint.
Step three: use painter's tape to outline your basic fireplace/mantel.
Step four: paint along the painters tape (don't worry if you can't see your chalk paint, the color does not show up until it dries) and remove tape when dry.
Step five: cut a sponge in half and dip in chalk paint to create accent bricks around the fire.
