sick with strep

This has been such a challenging week. I woke up on Wednesday with a sore throat and by the end of the day was battling a 103 degree temperature. I was hoping that a good night sleep would fix everything, but woke disappointed on Thursday feeling worse.

While dropping Parker off at school, one of my friends saw that I was sick and asked if she could take Parker home for me, and even better to a play date after school. I was quick to respond with a yes, that would be wonderful. I went to the doctor and got a prescription for strep, but my fever continued to climb to 104. I don't think I have ever felt that sick in my life.

What has blown me away the most is how kind people have been, neighbors texting me, offering to bring me food, or help with the kids. Lisa (who took Parker after school)  kept him the entire day, and offered to take Matilda as well while I was at the doctor. And when my fever kept rising she came over with tea and soup, got Matilda's medications, made a bag for the kids to stay at her house overnight, and offered to take me to the ER. Thankfully while we were getting everything ready, my fever started to come down. So she kept the kids, and I got a good night sleep.

I only hope that I would be so ready and willing to help a friend in need. Because let me tell you, I really needed help. And the relief that I feel now, knowing my kids are safe and I can rest, is all the medicine I need (well, that and antibiotics).
