merry and bright

I feel like the holiday season is coming fast this year and while it is easy to get caught up in buying, consuming, and indulging in holiday fun, I want it to mean so much more. I want it to be merry and bright - to bring happiness, warmth, and cheer to those around us. Make yourself or a friend this merry and bright doormat to set the holiday tone.

Supplies: plain doormat, a couple scraps of vinyl, paint, paintbrush, hole reinforcers, and the Cricut Explore

Process: Pick a font in the Cricut Design Space (I used Happy Fox) and type Merry Bright. Then add a heart or tree, or whatever you want. Next, have the Cricut Explore do all the hard work by cutting everything out for you on your vinyl scraps. Simply stick the cut vinyl stencil onto the mat and paint by blotting carefully, covering the letters completely. Add dots randomly using hole reinforcers as your stencil with the same blotting technique. Remove the vinyl and the reinforcers before it begins to dry. Wait 24 hours and then enjoy!

Time: This took no more than 30 minutes.

Cricut has asked a number of bloggers to enter projects with specific themes as a fun way to test out the Cricut Explore. I chose to participate in this group because I honestly believe the Cricut Explore is a game changer in the world of crafting and, really, who doesn't love a little competition on the side. I don't get paid, but I could win prizes if choose in the top ten.
