a handmade chalkboard gift

Matilda has a best friend. They are three weeks apart, have middle names dedicated to their grandmothers, and can't get enough of their older brothers. So when Mia celebrated her first birthday, we had to make her something extra special.

I started with a leftover wood block from my mini family portrait project and some green chalkboard paint. I love that the Martha Stewart line created a few extra fresh colors besides the typical black chalkboard paint. First, I hot glued a satin ribbon to the back, and then, I traced, cut out, and hot glued on fabric to complete the project.

I love that this little chalkboard will be able to transition with Mia as she gets older. It would look just as adorable in a college dorm as in a nursery. Happy Birthday Mia, thanks for always being there for Matilda.
